ALX PATHWAY FOUNDATIONS

Pathway Foundations helps learners build essential skills like impactful communication, entrepreneurial thinking, and quantitative reasoning. You will develop key skills that will set you apart from the crowd and ensure that you enter university prepared and ready to succeed.

On top of that, it offers college counselling and connects participants with funding and scholarship opportunities. You will receive personalised mentorship and support in your application to the universities of your choice.

Term 1

Onboarding

Overview

Lets start at the beginning. During your onboarding, you will receive information about your programme, invitations to join your local city and community channels, hub information and registration communication for the famous ALX Karibu welcome ceremony. You will also receive invitations to join your learning virtual infrastructure ( i.e LMS, Circle & Answerbase), you will attend the Support Office Hours [OH] & complete your onboarding course. 

Start of Term 1

During your first term, you will complete 15 weeks of continuous learning, submit weekly milestones and fulfil your test deadlines & hub attendance requirements.

Learning modules include:

  • ENT 100 – Foundations in Entrepreneurship
  • QNT 101 – College Algebra
End of Term 1

Learners close the term off with an end of Term Celebration & networking events at the hubs.

Term 2

Transition to Term 2

Overview

Once you pass Term 1, you will be enrolled in all Term 2 courses. Should you not have passed all your courses from Term 1, you be re-enrolled in failed Term 1 courses and some Term 2 courses without exceeding maximum credit requirements.

Start of Term 2

At the start of Term 2, you will receive Term 2 onboarding comms to continue your learning, understand what to expect in Term 2, attend Support Office Hours, submit your week 1 tests, milestones & projects.

  • BUS 200 – Business Finance
  • QNT 102 – Introduction to Statistics
  • ENT 110 –  Introduction to Venture Creation
  • SE 101 – Introduction to Software Engineering
Start University Applications

You will, again, complete 15 weeks of continuous learning, meeting your weekly milestones and test deadlines & hub attendance requirements. At this stage will you begin to apply to ALX Partner Universities. ALX Partner University applications are partner specific, including the admissions requirements and academic calendar.

End of Term 2

And that will be a wrap! You will close the Term off with an End-of-Term Celebration & networking event at your local hub, celebrating your successful completion of your ALX Pathway Foundations programme with your peers and should feel fully prepared for your next step!

Next Steps

In order to access the ALX Partner University network, scholarships and funding you will need to successfully complete Pathway Foundations meeting the following criteria:

Successfully completed and passed all Term 1 and Term 2 courses i.e. by:

  • Completing and submitting  all required assessments; milestones, tests, module checks MCQs and achieving a cumulative score of 70% or higher
  • Attending at least one City hub session each week
  • Fully paid the ALX Pathway Access Fee of $40 USD
